Week 5 - Recap

Sorry, week 5 is almost over and I am just posting!

Had an emotional week, however, I was able to use that towards getting my running in. I never thought that I would look so forward to running. It was crazy busy at work, things happened in my personal life, and my mother & stepdad visited. In the end I was able to run...and it felt great! It was the first thing I thought about when I was sad, mad or stressed...and I thought about it often this week.

Wednesday seems to have become my longer running day. I was able to get in 5.5 miles between running before picking up Cameron and then around the track during his football practice. It was a day I needed it. Then, this past Friday I was able to run and did it around Bremerton over the bridges again. I ventured out a little different way and headed downtown near the ferry docks...it was so pretty. I think I'll check the distance and maybe I can add a different route to change things up.

The weekend I rest, however, I have a feeling I won't be able to as usual. I normally get in about 2 miles over the weekend. It's crazy to think but....I think I am addicted to running! ha,ha. Never thought I'd say that.

Now I think I need to get myself some gear for longer runs. I have something to hold my stuff, but I need a better bottle to run with and some thing to eat. People are telling me about some "gooey" stuff that you can eat while running to keep up your energy. Doesn't sound appealing, but needed I guess. I will have to take a trip to this cool store in Poulsbo called "Poulsbo Runner". Shopping! I love that too. :)

Well, have a great week! Until next week...week 6 here I come!

Week 4 - I did it!

After putting it off a few days, I did it! I went the 6 miles I set out to do this week. I didn't run them all, but I still did the 6 miles. I ran 3, walked about 2 and then ran the last mile. It felt great! Funny too that I picked the hottest day of the week to do it...it was almost 90 outside at 5pm and I was running most of time on pavement and cars around. So, it was a little toasty at time. The times that felt the best, and I could have ran on there the whole time, was when I went over the two bridges.

What I did was parked my car in Manette near the Boat Shed and then ran over the Manette bridge around to over the Warren Ave bridge which loops back around to Manette. One of my friends, Heather, lives out close to Manette actually saw me on her way home from the office where we both work. Just happened to be going over the bridge and I saw her car...we waved at each other!

Next week I'll be doing 6 again and know now I can do it!

Week 4 - Slacker already

So, this week didn't get off to a great start. Over the weekend I kept pretty busy and even walked almost 3 miles on my day of rest for my training. However, today-Monday I was supposed to do 6 miles. I've been dreading it as I haven't done 6 miles all at once ever...so I think I talked myself out of it.

Cameron has football practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at a place that has a track. There were many factors that I let get in my way: 1) we were late to practice which only gave me 45 minutes--that is almost how long it took me to run 4 miles. 2) The track had people around it and on the field. 3) I just plain chickened out and didn't want witnesses to my potential failure.

However, I did come home in the end and run 2 miles on the treadmill. I have not given up all together for this week as I am bound and determined to not let anything get in my way on Wednesday. That is supposed to be my day to run only 2 miles, but I will run my 6 miles that day.

I'll keep you posted on how Wednesday goes.

Week 3 - Training has begun

I've been out of touch for a while with my blog...but I'm back! I have worked on tying up loose ends and it is paying off!

Week 3 of training is underway!

I have started training to run the Seattle Half Marathon! I have my schedule and am keeping to it. At the end of July I ran the Whaling Days 4 mile run in Silverdale, WA. That felt great! Since then I have been consistently running about 10 miles a week or sometimes even more. Many of you may not know this, but a half marathon is 13.3 miles!

I know I can do it! I'll keep you posted as to how I'm doing. Right now I'm on week 3, the past two weeks I have only been running 6 miles - 2 miles every other day and resting on the weekends. This week I start pushing to 4 miles a day and I know I can do it...the part I'm uneasy about is when we get into the later weeks. I have no idea how I'm going to run more then 4 miles at one time, but I will have faith and know I can do it.

That is all for now!
